During the last four or five days, I've experienced major problems getting wind forecast data into SkyDemon. Most of the time SkyDemon says that "Wind forecasts are not available for the complete journey" and does not present any wind data.

I'm pretty sure this is not a client problem because

- Occasionally I do get wind data for a small part of the route, but not the whole route.
- Other server functions like the route cloud storage is working.
- I get the same problem when using different computers/tablets.

I've tried this with SkyDemon 3.2.1.0 on PC and Android devices.

Can you give us a quick example of a route for which this happens? I will need both the lateral and vertical description of the route.

Right now I've tried the route ESTA DEVNI NEGAS GIMLO SU ESKC at FL 100 with unspecified takeoff time.

I get wind data only for the leg SU-ESKC.

Hmm, weird, I get forecast data for the whole route. Does anybody else see this?

Does it change if you change your takeoff time to be a few hours into the future, which should cause SkyDemon to download those extra forecasts?

When I try now, it does! It downloads the forecasts as soon as I click on the takeoff time. On the other hand, this is not a consistent behaviour. I've tried before changing the takeoff time to no avail.

I've done some further experimenting. The problem seems to happen most prominently (or possible only) on routes with intermediate landings. I've made one route EDNY-EDDV-ESTA-ESKC with intermediate landings in EDDV and ESTA, and another single-sector route ESTA-ESKC and saved both to the cloud. (Both routes have additional waypoints.) All sectors are saved with takeoff time "not set".

When I load the ESTA-ESKC route, everything seem to work correctly. When I load the EDNY-EDDV-ESTA-ESKC route, all wind arrows on the map disappear and I get only partial wind information in the route plan. In particular, the sector ESTA-ESKC only gets wind information for the last leg, as I explained in an earlier post.

If I load the ESTA-ESKC route again, the wind arrows reappear and all legs in the route get wind information.

This behaviour has been consistent since this morning on both an Android phone and a Windows PC.

SkyDemon will only obtain wind forecasts for the current sector, as the entire weather infrastructure is not multi-sector-route aware. Nor could it be, really, because it doesn't know how much time you intend to spend at your various stops. So if you were to load your multi-sector route with the first sector activated, then go flying (or otherwise go into offline mode) then switch to the second sector, I would not expect SkyDemon to have downloaded the forecast data for that sector. Even if it did, that forecast data would presumably be out of date by the time you needed it. Does this explain what you're seeing?

It doesn't - I am online the whole time.

But are you saying that if I have a multi-sector route, I shouldn't expect any wind forecasts for other than the first sector unless I set a particular takeoff time for the later sectors? If that is the case, how come I get partial wind information for later sectors?

Anyway, in the past this has happened even with the takeoff time set. But that might be a different issue?

You should expect forecast data to be loaded for the current sector. If you haven't set other sectors as the current sector, they will not have data loaded. If they don't have a takeoff time set though, SkyDemon will assume that "now" is the takeoff time, so if you were to immediately activate another sector then the forecast for "now" would already be loaded.
I agree it might be a different issue.
